Airsoft Extreem Texas

Post by Brenda on Wed Nov 11, 2009 7:39 pm

Greetings everyone,

I've just spoke at great length with Top T (Greg) at AEX... Most of the store personel know me by face or deeds on the field during their events... Anyhow what we will be doing is setting up booths at guns shows and such to promote Airsoft as a sport... While doing this I will be handing out AEX flyers and such with special codes on them giveing discounds to who ever uses them... I think this is a good way to get the sport growing more in the Texas area... AEX is willing to donate things for events and such... I think this is a great deal for everyone...

Now about the OP I'm planing... No one knows about this other than LRU and AEX... Fort Wolters is actuly setup for recreating areas in Vietnam... Pilots would take off from main area then fly to what are called stage fields... Each stage field corlates to a actual fire base that was in Vietnam... I think we can get use of at least one duce&half and mabe some other things... I've been checked out in the R-22 and was thinking about renting one just for this type of event... Now I know a few fourmer military folks that know how to repell out of a heli... If I could find a R-44 we could even have dope on a rope on each stage field...

How the OP could go down... US forces must find down A-1d pilot.... Dust off pilots... Recover and regroup all US forces to fire base/stage field... US forces must make use of area to defend from VC attack... VC/NVA must try to charge US forces...

This is somewhat based on a real event... A Skyraider pilot was shot down... 4 different squads of USMC were sent in to get the pilot... Apon finding the pilot they were quickly flanked and boxed in... Waiting on a small hill was an enitre batilion of NVA and about 100 VC... After a major fire fight the USMC was split into 2 groups.. One on top of a slight rise the other was in a small vally... Running low on ammo or totaly out of ammo the word came down from the brass on site "fix bayonets"... The USMC did just that and as far as I know it was the last bayonet charge ever... They wound up takeing the base the NVA were in and got out alive for the most part...

So, does this sound like a OP worth doing? If we promote it enough and get a ton of people out there I bet AEX will donate lots of goodies...

Brenda

i love the idea! the only concern here is money. for admission, for you to at least break even, admission would be at least bulldog. plus age limits, if you feel one is needed. also exactly where were you planning on holding this?

Well the giant events I've been to by AEX ran in the $40 range... However the last event I went to was $5 for all day and a free game for when ever I wished to return... I would like to see it actuly in the $20-$25 range and mabe a discount for family...

The area for this is around Mineral Wells... I'm thinking of stage field Bronco as it has the correct layout... The heli pads are still there but might need some clean up work...

For the event I'm thinking of giveing everyone a map, patch, dogtag, AEX discount card, and mabe NTA cards... So cost of patch and tag I'm guessing is only a few bucks or less... Perhaps as a bouns for going VC I can come up with some coolie hats for them to wear...

Another update,

Yes I know the are comeing in quick but hey this is going together a LOT faster than I thought... Mineral Wells Police will be comeing to the event along with, Smittys Cycles, Jitter Bean Coffee, lots of VETS from WWII to modern times, and Mineral Wells Chamber of Commerce...

Now on to the "Bag O' Swag"... Every player will get in a bag 1 dog tag, 1 arm band with side marked with proper flag, discount cards, map of the area with grids, POW/MIA card or patch (not sure what one yet), and mabe some cofffee... Vicki is on the phone now and we might have a SBD doing strafeing and bombing runs with REAL pyro!!! (But not actuly dropped from the aircraft)... Use of a UH-12 or R-44 heli but we have to supply door gunner and LMG...

This is going to be one giant event...

Date : Spring 2010
Time: 2 day event w/ camping first day only
Address: Stage Field Broncho or stage field 5 not sure yet, Fort Wolters Military Compound, Mineral Wells Texas (might have to dodge a few tanks and APC's)
Price: $40 for both days flat rate

Rules for the Cong are black.. No raidos... No organised teams... Totaly independent of main attacking force... This mimics the actual events that took place in 1968... The 2nd part of the event will be at dusk/night for those that wish to stay... At that time is were the VC should come into their own... But once again must be somewhat disaray in the attack...

LRU will be rolling American, due to the fact that many of our players have US style Vietnam gear ready to go. For those that don't, you can't have to many OD flight suits. They go for $30 at the surplus.
At Brenda, have we started any form of communication between the Ft. Wolters staff as of now? Also, will there be gear/ weapon/ ammo restrictions for either side?

I am in contact with City and County personel about it... Will scout locations when I can... I would like to have everyone useing BIO BB's... No snipers/DMR as there wasn't any on the ground in 1968... Weapons will be limted only in the respect of SAW's... We don't want to many on either side... Will be crono requirements as normal... I'm getting so stoked for this event...

Looks Like a Jared dream come true... Cool Got all the gear ready to roll lol. Nothin to do now but just wait it out til it gets here. Crying or Very sad If we are goin U.S. then I can loan a couple people uniforms and guns but Jordan will prob be playin so there goes one uni already. So not to burst any bubbles yet but what are the chances looking like of us actually getting this thing off the ground? Should we contact Laygo and his ilk to see if they can do anything to help us out cuz they would kill for an event like this.

I have been unable to contact Laygo... I just not posted the info on NTA site as I just had the final bits fall together... The VN War Musuem said it was a good idea and wanted in.. New Haven also called today about it and is all abuzz about it... VFW post also wants to make a showing and even get their grandchildren into the event... I've been in contact with a VN AirSoft group in the UK that will try to come out... I'm still looking for a leader for the VC folks... Need a sneeky begger who can operate aside from normal chain of command...

Agreed. Sounds very interesting. For the NVA commander, sounds like Zero Hawk is your man. Shoot him a PM and see if he'd be interested.
