upgrading a M249

Post by Splinter on Thu Jan 15, 2009 7:13 pm

R/C wanted me to post this plan I have to upgade a M249 to 450 fps and LiPo ready which under TASO rules is completly legal with a 50ft minimum engagement distance

A&K M249 MK2 - $290.
G&G tightbore barrel- $30.0
Systema Area 1000 bushings - $13.0
Matrix magnum motor - $45.0 or Systema magnum motor - $95.0
Systema shim set - $5.0
Systema M130 spring - $19.99
Systema Torque up gear set - $65.0 or Systema super Torque up gear set- $95.0
ECHO 1 steel cylinder head - $17.0
ECHO 1 polycarbonate piston-$15.0 or Systema polycarbonate piston-$35
Systema Aluminum piston head - $20.0
CA cylinder grease - $6.0
CA gear grease -$6.0
G&G silicone oil - $12.0
total $544 - $644

I would buy this for my self, but I don't have the money. Nathan might buy this which would be good since he alrady has a LiPo, a few extra mags, and already has the suport guner mind set. If he does not have all the money then i say we can all help a little

Jonathan, this sounds like a great idea. We really need a dedicated SAW gunner and I agree that Nathan has the mind set for it. Howver, there will be great strain put on the gearbox. I think you need to ensure that parts that receive alot of where when shooting at this high of fps, don't break. For constant stress parts, only use Systema. It all sounds good, lets see if it works. By the way, who's going to assemble it?
