MKII SAW- Advice Please
As most of you know, I am about to buy a SAW. I am not buying new, but a used EX-Boneyard GI. The man I am buying from is named Dennis Hernandez. I have been stocking him lately, to make sure I am not getting ripped (advice from Wyat), and he seems to be real. He has a MySpace with the URL: www.myspace/dennish27 His picture is the same for his Youtube account, Foxtrot545. In his video approximately at 2:51, he says "Hey I'm west" But that could just be the bad wind, it’s plausible. (Movie is at bottom)
Now moving onto the gun. Obvisly it's not going to be perfect, but the box mag is broken... and by broken, I mean shattered. It is beyond repair, though he is going to be providing a mag "500 rd noveske m4 high cap (480~500bd high cap, haven’t counted it yet)" Could someone translate "rd noveske", I’m not sure what that is. And he told me that the hop strays from side to side, and when I asked him to clarify, he said something I don’t understand. "If you feld strip the barrel and reinstall it the hop up unit won’t always be lined up, you gotta check the mag well to see if the two holes are lined up" Somebody please reply and tell me what that whole sentence means.
Overall I’m still convinced to buy. It has been upgraded, past store-bought standard, and well... comments, advice?

Re: MKII SAW- Advice Please
Mmmkai...
About the magazine, "500 rd Noveske hi-cap" equals "500 round capacity Noveske-brand high-capacity magazine". Noveske is the brand and "rd" stands for "round". Those mags actually hold about 470 rounds but he's close enough. If you plan on being a serious SAW gunner, yes, you will need a box magazine. A Classic Army or other high end brand would be your best bet, but you could probably get away with a less expensive brand for now.
About the hopup unit...
It appears as though he means the unit does not always go into its proper slot. Here's a picture for reference.

The bottom of that unit has to line up with the hole in your magazine well so that BB's can flow from your magazine into the hop up unit (and out your barrel). I believe he is saying that you have to make sure the bottom of the hop up unit and the hole in your magazine well need to be lined up after you field strip the gun or you will not be able to use said gun. Please ask him for clarification on whether or not this issue of hop up placement interferes with performance of the weapon.

Re: MKII SAW- Advice Please
hes talking about buying 8 mags instead of a box mag. if you have a box mag(electric) you can fire around 2500 rounds non stop but its not advised.
Re: MKII SAW- Advice Please
Brandt, due to the nature of a SAW gunner, I would advise getting a box mag before midcaps. You will go through 100 rds pretty quickly and would have to reload a lot. If you like having that MilSim aspect, then by all means buy mids.

Re: MKII SAW- Advice Please
Well theres bad news and good news about the gun.
Bad news is My parents want me to change from the plan of sending him the money and 2 weeks later getting the gun to COD(Cash on Delivery)
Good news is, I cant get rippped doing this! He has to send the package, and then the money is transported to his account when I sign for it.

Re: MKII SAW- Advice Please
look at it in his point of view, he doesnt want to get ripped off by sending you the gun and you not paying for it. its all about trust(you cant trust any one at trading guns though)
Wyat showed me some things about this guy and i do not at all in any way think its a good idea to do this, but its not my money. im just trying to give my opinion and frankly, i think he will rip you off.....

Re: MKII SAW- Advice Please
I agree with Nathan. It's always a gamble. If you think that you can get the money back if he rips you off, then go for. However, you won't get it back. When you tell him about the change in deal and he agrees, then go for it. However, he probably wont.

Re: MKII SAW- Advice Please
One word my boys....
PAYPAL.
Also, Wyat, where is the MilSim aspect of not using a box magazine with a SAW? Real M249's can't even use regular M4/M16 magazines...

Re: MKII SAW- Advice Please
Pay Pal will not ensure that the deal goes smoothly. You may get the gun and not know anything is wrong, sen him the money via pay pal, and then the gun breaks.
The M249 SAW can and does use the M4 style 5.56 magazine for easier mag changes with fellow soldiers.

Re: MKII SAW- Advice Please
Wyat,
The real-steel M249 is belt-fed. How, pray tell, is it that standard M4 magazines can fit a belt-fed weapon?
